Legislatures in 38 states introduced 121 bills aimed at promoting healthcare information technology in 2005 and 2006, including 36 bills in 24 states that passed and were signed into law, according to a report released by the eHealth Initiative, a consortium of health plans, healthcare IT vendors, providers, laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, medical-device makers and other healthcare organizations promoting IT use in healthcare.
 
 
Medicare Chief to Resign from Agency PDF Print E-mail
The Dallas Morning News has reported that Dr. Mark B. Clellan, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to resign. The announcement could come as early as September 5, 2006. McClellan has led the agency since March 2004. Previously he was the commissioner of the FDA from November 2002 - March 2004. He is expected to join the American Enterprise Institute.
