| MedPac Considers Hospital Cuts |

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) yesterday discussed reducing the hospital update in 2008. MedPAC observed that the prospective payment systems currently fail to adequately reimburse for clinical and health information technology. Medicare only reimburses 92 cents on the dollar for beneficiary costs and that nearly two-thirds of hospitals treating Medicare patients are losing money. |
