$19,900 per Additional Year of Life
In a study conducted by researchers at Harvard and university of Michigan and published today in the New England Journal of Medicine, investigators found that Americans get sizable life-extending gains for their medical dollars. Amercians of all ages spent an average of $19,900 for each extra year of life. This is substantially less than what many public and private payers for treatments that cost over $100,000 for each additional year of life.
