CMS Price Data of ASC Irrelevant

As CMS begins to posts its payments for ASC procedures, the industry questions its relevance. Consumers are really interested in what their copayment may be. The current data does not provide this information. ASC facility costs, posted at the CMS web site, shows Medicare payments for a selected number of ambulatory procedures. CMS believes that posting the data will help consumers select the ASC based upon cost and quality. As it stands, the data falls short of that goal.
